Minutes of Mont Vernon Cemetery Trustees

Cemetery trustees’ meeting was held at the town hall at 7:10 PM, April 28, 2010. Present were trustees Richard Quintal, chair/secretary, Alton Ryder, webmaster and Karen Lindquist, bookkeeper. Quintal presented an agenda of nine business items including.

  1. Quintal called for election of bookkeeper, chair and secretary. Ryder initiated a discussion re the definition/job description of bookkeeper. After some discussion among the trustees it was agreed that the bookkeeper’s primary function is to maintain the financial records, request money from the ToTF’s and pay bills.

Lindquist nominates Quintal as chair; Ryder seconds. All in favor. Ryder nominates Quintal as secretary; Lindquist seconds. All in favor. Ryder nominates Lindquist as bookkeeper; Quintal seconds. All in favor.

  1. Quintal initiates discussion re trustees control of the Town of Mont Vernon, Cemetery Trustees web site [http://cemetery.mont-vernon.nh.us]. Quintal pointed out that this site has been managed solely by Ryder who has contributed countless hours for over a decade. Trustees discussed the importance of content being overseen by this board so as to present a board view of web content in all matters. It was decided that
    • Tustees shall approve all new web content before publishing
    • Present content to remain as-is except as modified at this and future meetings
    • Replace background photo on Information Home Page with photo w/about 60% transparency.
    • Delete Handbook for Trustees.
    • Delete non-functional webmaster email address from all pages
    • Map/schematic Sections A & IV dated 4/28/10 submitted and approved for web
    • Map/schematic Section B dated 1/12/10 conditionally approved subject to marking Lot B-36 as “Brown” and Lot B-37 as “Upton.”

  2. Quintal proposes that cemetery public postings such as notices and solicitations, not to include regular meeting notices, be approved by the board before posting. It was decided that such postings will be approved by this board.
  3. Quintal advises proposed rules changes about 98% complete and should be available for May 12 meeting.
  4. Post-winter condition of cemetery reported and discussed.
  • American flags placed 2009 were picked up by Quintal and will be transferred to Bucky Grugnale (DPW) for proper disposal.
  • Lindquist picked up debris such as dead flowers, artificial flowers, pots, etc.
  • Quintal reports that he opened main gate and gates #3 & #4. He further reports that gates 3 and 4 should be equipped with stops so that when open they will not be used as swings by children and may be blown by wind and damaged. Ryder moves $400 to purchase and install stops. Lindquist seconds. All in favor. Quintal to manage (task).

Several agenda items were not considered due to time constraints and will be presented at the next meeting. Next meeting scheduled for May 12, 2010 at 7:00 PM at the town hall.
