Minutes of Mont Vernon Cemetery Trustees

Cemetery trustee meeting was held 13 November 2009 at the town hall, Mont Vernon, NH. Present were Karen Lindquist, bookkeeper and Richard Quintal chair/secretary. Meeting opened at 7:12 PM. Quintal presented an agenda of about 13 items for consideration.

1. Minutes of meetings held on 12 August and 7 October 2009. Members read and voted to approve minutes.
2. Cemetery and web postings of maps and minutes were not discussed due to absence of trustee Alton Ryder.
3. Trustee meeting dates and times was discussed. Presently future meetings are ‘as required.’ Trustees agreed to adopt date/time certain for future (2010) meetings. Date/times are dependent on availability of town hall meeting room. Quintal to work out details with selectmen’s staff. Scheduled meetings would run every three weeks from April 1 to December 1 concurrent with open/closing of cemetery. Unscheduled meetings could be called at any time to supplement scheduled meetings.
4. Sign posts and brochure holders. Lindquist moves to spend $150 for three p/t posts and brochure holders to be installed at main gate and gates three and four. Quintal seconds. All vote in the affirmative.
5. Trustees discussed a cemetery cleanup notice recently published in the Keene Sentinel. Size and language of notice appears appropriate to use a similar notice for Mont Vernon that a cleanup will be held after 5 December and that all items be removed from lots. Lindquist moves to spend up to an estimated $150 to run such notice in the Cabinet and Telegraph. Quintal seconds. All vote in the affirmative.
6. David M. Upton, 19 Harwood Road, Mont Vernon purchased Lot #B-37. Check #2150 in the amount of $800 with two copies of the RTI to Lindquist for disposition.
Victor Wassell (cremation) burial in B-4.22 on 7 November 2009. Check #2109 in the amount of $150 with two copies of the IO and cremation certificate to Lindquist for disposition.
Rose Gagnon (full) burial in A-35.2 on 13 November 2009. Check #56293 in the amount of $600 with two copies of the IO and one copy of Transportation of Bodies certificate to Lindquist for disposition.
7. Copy of Wells deed to Lindquist showing qualified holder having interment rights to Lot# II-155 and II-156. For burial two IO’s and transportation certificate or cremation certificate required.
8. Mr. Riccitelli invoice reviewed for past site work performed in the amount of $1185 approved for payment.
9. Lindquist moves to pay Susan King-Ecklund, 10 South Main Street, Mont Vernon, the amount of $28.78 for bulb food applied in September. Seconded by Quintal. All in favor.
10. Quintal reports that Gate #3 has been damaged apparently from passersby swinging on it. The eyebolt has sprung and the hinge end post has been split. This damage was discussed with Mr. Riccitelli was on site for a burial. He estimated $300 for gate removal, transportation, repair of hinge and end post and reinstallation. Quintal allowed him to remove the gate. Lindquist moves $300 be spent on gate repair and installation. Quintal seconds. All in favor.
11. Quintal reports about four distressed grave markers and it appears that others may be similar condition after spring thaw. It was decided to wait until spring and contact Medlyn then for repair for one cemetery visit instead of two.
12. Lindquist (cemetery abutter) states no objection to trees being removed along the side of Cemetery Road to allow PSNH the installation of a pole required to furnish electricity to cemetery property which will feed the water well. She informed the board that Cemetery Road is a scenic road probably requiring planning board notification. Quintal to contact planning board.
In connection for completion of the well, estimates for trenching, electrical (customer side of meter), pump/tank/plumbing have been received. PSNH has not been estimated as of this meeting but the first 450 feet are no charge. Remaining amount has been included in the electrical quote. Sum of all quotes is $15,125. Lindquist moves $15, 125 for the well water project as follows:

13. Computer. Quote for backup, Office 2007, cordless mouse, computer case. No virus protection. Quote from Staples in the amount of $490. Lindquist moves that $490 be spent on upgrading
