Minutes of Mont Vernon Cemetery TrusteesMeeting was opened at the Ryder residence, 2 Lamson Farm Road, Mont Vernon. Present were trustees Richard Quintal, chair/secretary, Alton Ryder and Karen Lindquist, bookkeeper. An agenda was presented by Mr. Quintal for discussion and consideration. 1. Quintal received request from Eileen Naber re lot location at Green Lawn. Quintal has question pending answer from Ms. Naber. 2. Ryder was requested to update maps and lots posted on the cemetery website as well as a print version of occupied lots. 3. Cemetery website in general is in need of updating. Ryder requested to update all out-of-date content. 4. Quintal to contact selectmen and library trustees to set a date (not sooner than 30 days) for a joint meeting to determine apportionment of use of town land (Assessor’s Map 4, Lot 45). 5. Lindquist to request from Eileen Naber (ToTF) a past five year running report of the ROI on cemetery funds. This Quintal states will be useful to estimate future funding of the proposed new cemetery. 6. Quintal proposed printed meeting minutes be made available at the town offices for public viewing. Further proposed is that meeting minutes be identified as DRAFT until approved at the next meeting at which time approved minutes will be made available at town offices. It was also determined that web draft minutes shall be clearly marked DRAFT. Trustees agreed with this procedure to handle and publish minutes. 7. It was decided to hold future cemetery trustee meetings at the town hall. As cemetery board meeting dates and times are irregular, a trustee will check on availability of the meeting room. 8. Quintal read a letter from Tamara Ann Tello re complaint of removal of items from the grave of Michael Galan. Trustees discussed the complaint and Quintal produced a photograph of the site showing items not permitted under cemetery rules. These items were removed by a trustee for pre-Memorial Day mowing by DPW. This action was approved by all trustees at a previous meeting (June 12, 2009) and applied to about twenty graves similarly in violation. Additionally, an excerpt of the current rules, signed by all trustees, re decorations was posted on May 12 at several high visibility locations on cemetery property. Quintal will draft response to Ms. Tello and send to trustees for comment. 9. Ryder to send electronic copy of current rules to town offices for public handouts. 10. Topics for next meeting
11. FEMA expected payment. Quintal to contact Bucky (DPW) re same. Green Lawn will be separate check payable to Green Lawn cemetery. Old/new business and Action Items not discussed due to time constraints. Richard Quintal, Secretary
